ULC “Super Sunday” Service
Timeline
February 2026
Ann Arbor's University Lutheran Chapel contracted Sly Pup Productions to provide audio and video services for a worship service scheduled in the Mendelssohn Theatre at the University of Michigan. ULC serves the local community and student ministry with three Sunday services, often standing-room only. Hosting a special Super Bowl Sunday service in the 600-seat Mendelssohn allowed the entire congregation to come and worship together.
ULC brought their Sunday worship band along with a few guest musicians, in total 14 musicians & vocalists. Sly Pup Productions provided a high quality PA system with coverage for the main floor and balcony and an input package for the band including Shure ULXD wireless mics for the vocalists. There were three pastors speaking throughout the service and each was equipped with a DPA cardioid headset and a ULXD beltpack transmitter.
On a usual Sunday the chapel has TVs which display graphics and verses for the guests to read or sing along. We replicated that experience in Mendelssohn with a Panasonic 10K lumen projector and a long-throw lens to project onto the upstage cyclorama. Notably, the chapel has a large stained glass window above the altar, and we used a photograph of the window added as a transparent graphic layer in the projections to help the audience feel they were in their “home” church.
The event was a great success from the production side, but also the attendance exceeded the organizers’ expectations and around 400 members and guests filled the main floor and nearly 1/3 of the balcony seats.
